**YOU WILL HAVE TO CREATE YOUR OWN CHARTS TO COMPLETE THIS - THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO DO THIS IN PHOTOSHOP - START WITH THE SHAPE TOOLS** (day 2)
This is a very detailed tutorial. Make sure you look at the pictures AND read the directions! This will be due at the end of Monday’s class.
In this tutorial you will create a small, but important part the website - the navigation. You will create a five button, horizontal menu. The texture you choose for the background it up to you.
The company Candy Surplus wants you to create a web banner that will promote their Christmas sales. They would like a web ad that “pops-out” at the reader, which should suggest using elements that create a 3D effect. They would also like the ad to display some sort of holiday theme to it. The ad should catch the attention of web readers so it should be colorful and interesting, don’t be afraid to use patterns and intricate designs. Everything in the project needs to be original! Do Not copy & paste from the internet. The document size should be 1000px wide and 500px in height. Here’s what you will need:
Theme: This should give you an idea of the size and a possible theme.
Text: Apply a creative text that reads “Candy Surplus” you may use a tutorial to do this. You can also add a tag line or slogan if you want.
Candy: Draw some colorful candy pieces. Browse this website for ideas.
Supporting Design: There should be elements/details that tie it all together.
Case Study:
There is a new social network that expects to be bigger than Facebook! They have asked you to build their future profile page. It should include elements similar to other social network profile pages, such as a profile picture, an about section, an area for posts, a place to show your friends, etc. Take a look at your Facebook, Tumblr, Indeed, YouTube accounts. What do they have in common? How do they stand out from each other? Your goal is to create a profile page that is unique from the others but has similar functions. The dimensions for this project should be: 1280 x 768 and you should use the Web Document preset. If you set it up correctly you will be using the RGB color mode. You will also need to create the name for the new social network.
Take a picture of yourself using PhotoBooth and place it into an Illustrator file. From there you will turn yourself into a vector character. Use the tutorial to get ideas on how to do that. Obviously yours will be different because you have a different face - use what you have learned to complete this task.
We have been challenged! The goal is to take a normal photograph and turn it into a blueprint. Do a quick google image search to see what different types of looks a blueprint can have. Then go to the server, inside the GraphicDesign II folder is a folder called “Blueprint.” We have been challenged to take a picture of that robot and turn it into a blueprint. There are several different backgrounds and angles of the machine. Decide which one(s) will work best. Typically a blueprint consists of at least 2 different angles, especially for cars/robots. Next I want you to do a google search for “photoshop blueprint tutorial.” You will find several different tutorials. Scan through them and see which one you think will work best. Apply the tutorial to your images and see if you can get a high quality look. You may also need to download a texture or find another tutorial on how to create a paper texture.
This is the assignment for Graphic Arts I on Wednesday November 14th.
